Church is reopened for everyone with some restriction due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Updated: Nov 18, 2020

Слава Ісусу Христу! Glory be to Jesus Christ!

We are happy to be able to announce that our Cathedral Parish of St Mary the Protectress Sobor will be reopening for Sunday Divine Liturgies starting this Sunday 12 July 2020 on the Feast Day of Sts Peter and Paul. Liturgy will begin at 10:00AM.

Because of restrictions on large gatherings, the number of parishioners participating in the Liturgy must be limited to 50 persons on a first come, first served basis. There will be two points of entry into the Church only: through the left hand door at the top of the front stairs, and by the elevator entrance.

Everyone will be asked to wear a mask (please bring your own) and observe social distancing by sitting/standing in designated spaces. There will be no veneration by kissing or touching of the Holy Icons or of the Cross. Unfortunately, until instructions from higher Church authorities on how this can be done safely have been received, Confessions will not be heard, and there will be no distribution of the Sacrament of Communion. Any further instructions will be provided by parish volunteers during the service.

We require a number of volunteers to help with controlling the entrances, cleaning washrooms, and wiping down surfaces, etc. If you would like to help, please let us know by responding to stmaryprotectress@gmail.com.

At this time, it is important to remember that the Parish still requires your financial contributions. Please be generous. If you're unable to attend Liturgy, cheques can still be mailed to the parish (820 Burrows Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2X 0R2)

Please bear with us as we try to adapt our services to the new conditions. With God's help, the pandemic will abate and soon more restrictions will be lifted and we can return step by step to our normal liturgical life.
